MHB WEEKLY: By the students, for the world

Part of the MHB program is an internship, as students choose among the myriad L.A.-based job and internship listings in the following fields: HR, market research, marketing, advertising, PR, social media and management. Here are options from this week:

Special Events Intern (apply here)
AIDS Project of Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA)
“The Special Events Intern will work with the Program Manager of Volunteer Resources to staff, deploy and oversee volunteers at APLA’s various events. The candidate must be willing to work approximately 12-16 hours per week, and will be asked to work our major events as they are scheduled. He or she must be available to work the evening/late night of the events. Also required are excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong PC, MS Word/Excel, and Internet skills; interest in HIV/AIDS issues; and ability to work well under pressure. A background in customer service is desirable, and a three- to six-month commitment is requested.”

Human Resources Intern (apply here)
Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Los Angeles, CA)
“The Human Resources department is seeking an undergraduate student or recent college graduate for an internship opportunity that will provide exposure to all facets of human resources, with a focus on leave of absence administration, employee handbook policies and compensation programs. The internship is designed to provide an understanding of the Human Resource function within a non-profit, arts organization. The intern will have the opportunity to work with all HR department staff and will gain hands-on, practical experience in an HR office environment. The volunteer intern must be able to complete a total of 240 internship hours, with a minimum of 8 hours per week. Hours are flexible between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday. This non-compensatory internship is appropriate for students from the following majors: Human Resources Management, Business Administration, English, or Liberal Studies.”
